Discussing Tragedies with First Graders

I am saddened by news of the Boston Marathon explosions! With that being said, if you feel that your child(ren) is mature enough to hear about such tragedies as the Boston Marathon explosions or Newtown then PLEASE take it one step further and make them aware that MANY parents of their classmates or younger students have chosen NOT to discuss the incident with their children. There is NOTHING worse than having to explain to a class of first graders something that they heard about from so-and-so when I, as their teacher, can't even wrap my brain around it! Thank you!
